What does “Magnolia Detroit” mean? Amber was born and raised in Detroit and one of her favorite memories is admiring a magnolia tree in full bloom in the backyard of a house on the West Side. Surrounded by poverty and vacant lots was this beautiful tree that thrived in spite of life’s obstacles. It was the perfect representation of Detroit and the resilient people who live there. This is an ode to the city that shaped her.
